Boycotting Walmart
I shopped at Walmart for the last time today.
The prices are lower. And there was a time when that really mattered to me. But I'm over it. I'm not helping fund a store anymore that just breeds miserable negativity. I enter Walmart feeling dirty and rushed. I exit shocked, frustrated and disappointed... EVERY SINGLE TIME.
I had 5 bucks or so left on a giftcard that I was planning on using up before I started boycotting. Ironically enough, I couldn't get it to work in the self-checkout, then my credit card wouldn't work either, so I had to use my debit card. People waiting in line behind me, just getting more and more pissed off and miserable, feeding into the whole negative atmosphere.
Sure, I'm going to pay more. But I'd much rather pay more to a store that cares about it's customers, a store that hires employees who smile, a store that leaves me feeling happy. Even though you'll pay less at Walmart, the fact of you shopping there is what keeps them in business, and it's what continues to put more and more miserable people in this world. It's time to eliminate things like that... no matter what the cost.

Amen to that! I am at the luxurious point in life where most often the cheapest thing is not what I am after. Good customer service, quality, and health are worth paying extra for.

Good for you! I think I've gone to Wal-Mart like twice in the past four months, both times because I needed something quick and knew I would find it there. I felt like an ass afterwards. I'll join you in officially boycotting Wal-Mart!

Poor gals and guys that HAVE to work there. I met one yesterday. There is no point in going into details but she was a mess. My daughter had forbidden us to go there but like Matt posted, it was an urgent buy.

while i agree with some statements about walmart, doesn't writing a negative post project more negativity into the world and onto your readers? in effect doing the exact thing that you are having a problem with walmart doing?
Just a thought............yeaaaaa Click Clack

Poor misguided souls. When will you discover that people are the same everywhere! There are just as many grouchy employees at Kroger and Ukrops. Some of their stores are just as dirty, and even the automatic teller at the bank breaks down once in a while. The fact is, Walmart has provided jobs and good prices to a whole segment of society who are not as fortunate as you lily-white elitist snobs. You just don't want to rub shoulders with the lower class you claim to care so much about. Get a grip and try to smile.

Three cheers for Wal-Mart. And now they've started selling 3 months of those generics for $10. Wow! For my other meds that aren't generic I use the prescription discount card that I found at www.rxdrugcard.com. Low membership fee. Drug prices posted to check before you join.
